The Challenge:
Customer was looking to change the material of the bellows to a Hastelloy, others to a 316SS material. The issue they were having is that the bellows in some of the applications were getting pin holes due to the heat and corrosive nature of the process causing a chemical reaction. Pricing was high and the customer is looking for a more economic source.
The Solution:
In looking into replacing the bellows, we found out that this product is already in the market and is a drop-in replacement. No need for testing. This will be an easy replacement for VAT bellows applications. Along with material changes being made, this became a more suitable bellows for the application.
The Results:
This will allow the customer to have confidence in the bellows replacement and create value in XMEK/supplier. We will be able to offer technical support and decrease the lead times they currently get from supplier. Cost savings for the customer. This will also open the door for opportunities within the FAB. Extended the PM cycle due to material upgrade.
